Saly, Senegal — where the fairness thesis began

Long before the platform, there was a question asked on the ground in Senegal: who actually benefits from a carbon project? A 2022 workshop on fairness and equity in carbon markets, in Casamance, is where the thesis that runs through everything Straatos does was first put into words — captured in a line that stuck: “conservation without money is just conversation.”

It is the origin of what we now call the Cui Bono thesis — the insistence that proof, and benefit, reach the people and communities doing the work.
